Suggestions Welcome...

Just booked my flights to Hong Kong in July, off to visit my Dad, and fulfill another one of my many goals in life. Any suggestions of places to visit or things to see would be greatfully appreciated. Nothing like finding out from the people that know...

You Swine!

Whats all this talk of bacon giving you the lergy then and killing these mexicans? All of a sudden 80 people die, and now we're all going to get the flu off some snorting pig and drop dead. Remember there are around 7 billion people in this world, that's 0.000001142857142857143% of the worlds population that have died from this so far. More people die of malaria every day!

It's all scare mongering, I mean 10 years ago we were all going to die of aids, then SARS came along...what did happen to that? And then Mad Cow Disease, well I swear a few women I know still have that, and then Bird Flu....need I go on? If one of Bernard Matthew's sneezing chickens didn't kill us, I don't think a slice of bacon is going to. I do however love the way that the americans have declared an emergency over the whole thing, I suppose they are one of the largest sausage and bacon consumers in the world today.

All of a sudden some south american farmer slaughters his pig, and the next day he comes down with a runny nose, aches and pains...gives it to a few people, and now we're all going to get it....yeah right. All this talk of bacon is making me hungry, I bet Jack Tweed is shitting himself.

4.5G, 1.8 Seconds, 205ft, 80mph

I had the joy today of visiting Thorpe Park, and despite the usual Easter Holidays crowds it was quite enjoyable. Only managed to go on 4 rides while we were there, but all were worth the wait. Someone just said to me, why go there? why spend 3 hours standing in a queue for a 2 minute ride on what is basically a train flying around a track. My reply was simply...."Where can you go from 0-80mph in 1.8 seconds, fly up at 90 degrees and then fly down pretty much straight away from a huge height of 205ft, all at the same time of enduring 4.5G. And yes, it is Stealth that i'm refering to. As for Colossus, does anyone not trust those seat restrants, when you're upside down in the car on the corkscrew, your whole body weight totally on these harnesses, I just don't trust it...and i'm not a small bloke.

Don't get me wrong, I was shitting myself, nowhere near the force you're expecting but once you're off then it's just a case of enjoying the ride. It's an amazing feeling, strange feeling, and something that none of us are built for, but why not? You come off feeling great and wanting more, it's always worth the wait. It makes me want to go and play Rollercoaster Tycoon more. I wonder who came up with the whole "Rollercoaster" idea, and what they must have been thinking at the time. "Oh I know, let's scare the living daylights out of people by flying them around metal frames in cars doing high speeds and often pulling G Forces that the human body wasn't built for"....whoever they are and wherever they are, they've come up with something that is thrilling people all over the world on a daily basis....oh and making Merlin Entertainments a bomb!

Let's think about tomorrow...

Have you ever thought what life would be like if you knew what tomorrow was going to bring. In a way there's part of me that would love to know what tomorrow had in store so that I could prepare for it, in what ever wasy was needed. But then again isn't it quite nice to have a surprise, I guess life would be rather boring if we knew what tomorrow held.

I know what i've got planned for this year, but in 6 months who actually knows where each of us will be or what we'll be doing. I know what I want to do but life rarely works out like that. I know what i'd like to be doing in 5 years, but god only knows what'll happen.

If i've learnt one thing in my short 19 years on this planet, it is that you get out of life what you put into it, and I guess it's all about the here and now. Everything happens for a reason, and even though even at times of deepest distress, I can now see why it all happened and how its improved life. Life is short, so never waste a minute unhappy, that's a minute you'll never get back. If the last 3 years are anything to go by then things can always change in a matter of days.

I wrote this while lying in bed last night, I guess watching Knowing last night made me think. Do love the way some films make you think about life.

What in the Dickens?

Chatham seems to be the Slough of Medway, a bit stuck in the 80's and could do with a bit of TLC, never the less a trip to see Dickens World and Chatham Historic Dockyard was on the cards. I've never been a huge fan of boats, but I have always been fascinated by how they stay floating, the same with Planes, I can figure out how they can stay in the air. I guess thats science, something i've never been particularly good at. But I really enjoyed Chatham Dockyards.

It was fascinating to go through a Royal Navy submarine, still under the 30 year rule so you don't actually know where its been or what its been involved in. 3 months isn't a long time, but I imagine it must feel like 3 years when you're stuck in a cramped metal tube underwater, not seeing sunlight, especially because they were volunteers. It was also the moment I realised I could probably join the Navy, flying through portholes all over the place, thats not meant to sound at all gay though! And I never knew Blue Peter bought RNLI Lifeboats, you learn something everyday!

We also visted Dickens World, which is basically a converted warehouse with a few victorian looking structures, a theatre, a boat ride and a 4-d cinema. That is actually it, you can easily do it in 2 hours. The boat ride just seems as though its been shoved in there to add something extra, and give them something to advertise and a reason to charge £13 entry for. The theatre show was boring, however I did enjoy the excellent projection and set on show, it should be commended for that. But apart from that, I wouldn't recommend it....unless you really are Charles Dickens mad.

A good day out, won't post photos, these are all on Facebook, i'd definitly recommend Chatham Docks, even if you're not a great boat lover its still a brilliant family day out. Dickens however, unless you're a huge Charles Dickens fan, give it a miss.

P.S. On another note, I think all Chavs on Scooters should be shot, and run over by the own hairdryer powered two wheeler.

April Fools...

Unfortunatly as far as I know Toyota are not bringing out a new Amphibicar, nor are any car manufacturer. April Fools....

I thought i'd seen it all...

Toyota have announced today that they will be producing a car able to go on water. This seems to be a similar idea to what Top Gear attempted, and somewhat succeeded to do, a few series back. Toyota have claimed that the new "Toyota Odyssey", due to begin production in 2011, will be fitted with full sonar, radio communication and radar along with the usual devices you'd find in a normal car. The Amphibicar, as its now being called, will be in both km/h and knots. At the click of a button, bouyancy aids will inflate around the vehicle and a propeller will emerge from the rear, it really is as simple as that.

A Toyota spokesman told Sky News "It's something that has been in the pipeline for a number of years, and now we've made it a reality. It's exactly like driving a normal car, the only difference is you can drive into the sea with it."

What a great idea, It had to come eventually, I reckon that within a few years once these have got around it's going to give P&O a run for their money. Mind you, at a cost of £54,000, I think we might have to wait for the recession to be over.
